New York!

Often times people say that one thing they wish they could do the most is travel. Lucky for me, I live a life full of traveling for racing and get to incorporate mini vacations into all of the events. This time it was in New York City!  Growing up on the east coast I have been to NYC a few times, but NEVER experienced it the way I did this time. I must say, it was a very enjoyable trip despite huge crowds and traffic because I not only got to experience the city but I got to experience it the way I love to--swimming, biking, and running! The race is said to be one of those races you just have to do. Swimming in the Hudson with a 3knot current, biking the surprisingly hilly terrain, and running through the one and only central park. It was actually pretty cool and each part of the race had an aspect that I wont forget. In short, the perks of the race were swimming with the group and not holding back, and a well done run given all the hills. The negatives in the race were the 5 min T1 run that killed my feet and the bike penalty that I got which forced me to stop and stand down in the pouring down rain. (My penalty was due to not going into staggered position even though I dropped back and obeyed drafting rules--Yes there are two parts to the equations and I must know the rules).

They say a picture can paint a thousand words.  So rather than rambling on, I figured I would just post a few pics from the weekend! Enjoy!
Cheering for friends in the park.
In Central Park. Beautiful area.

Some more cool views. The city is huge compared to Houston.
